Air India has opened applications for the position of Trainee Pilot on the Airbus A320, with the role based in Delhi. This opportunity is aimed at young and motivated pilots who are ready to begin their flying career with the national carrier and be part of its growing fleet and transformation journey.
The airline is looking for Indian nationals or Overseas Citizens of India who are not more than 30 years old at the time of applying. Candidates must have completed their 10+2 education with Physics and Mathematics from a recognised board or university, ensuring a strong academic foundation for professional flight training.
Applicants are required to hold a valid Commercial Pilot Licence or ATPL issued by DGCA India, along with a current Class I medical certificate. A valid A320 type rating, a current instrument rating on the aircraft, and a valid English Language Proficiency endorsement are mandatory. In addition, candidates must possess a radio telephony licence issued by the Wireless Planning and Coordination Wing and have an active eGCA ID with all licences and documents properly updated and verified.
Air India has clarified that candidates who are in the process of renewing or awaiting issuance of any required licence or endorsement may still apply. However, those currently employed with another organisation will be required to submit a No Objection Certificate at the time of joining. Selected candidates must also provide a police verification certificate obtained within three months prior to their joining date.
The selection process will be conducted in multiple stages and will include a written examination, psychometric assessment, group discussion and personal interview. Shortlisted candidates will then undergo a simulator proficiency assessment, followed by a pre-employment medical examination to ensure they meet all operational and safety standards.
Interested and eligible candidates are advised to submit their applications on time, as the last date to apply is January 10, 2026. This role offers aspiring pilots a valuable opportunity to join Air India’s cockpit at a pivotal moment in the airline’s expansion and renewal.
